Playgroup

Last Friday, the fabulous Mrs Christie ran our very first playgroup session. It was great to see some existing Kolan South families as well as some new ones bring their children along for a fun and social experience. The session consisted of a number of  gross motor skill activities, sharing a story and of course, music. Just before morning tea the playgroup was joined by our Prep students for Storytime. Tea and coffee was served and it was great to see some new connections made. Playgroup will run every Friday moving forward, so please help us spread the news by letting anyone know who you think might be interested.

After School Arrangements

Parents/carers please contact Cheryl at administration to advise the school of any pickup arrangements that differ from the ordinary for your child.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Kolan South State School has registered for the Premier's Reading Challenge which runs from May 7 to August 23. The purpose of the program is to encourage reading and ignite a love for learning. The targets for the challenge are as follows:

Prep—4—20 books

Years 5-6—15 books

Good luck kids.

Pick of the Crop

We have picked all pineapples and one is just about ready to eat. We have also picked some tomatoes and can see that the snow peas are growing nicely. We're really looking forward to making a quiche with Chappy tomorrow using the produce we've grown + some eggs from Mr Spargo's chooks.

Pick-up Zone Safety

Parents please remember that it's only one car wide in the pick-up loop of the carpark. As many times as we tell the younger students the rule about staying inside the school gate and actively supervising them as they leave, sometimes they get so excited when they see Mums and Dads that they run out of the gate. Adding to this risk, this age group of students are the most difficult to see running in front of high set vehicles.

P&C Update

Our Mother's Day Stall has been a hit this week. Thank you to those that have supported the stall by purchasing gifts. Profits raised from these events go towards resources and extra-curricular activities for the students. The P&C are excited to purchase new sport house marquees to reflect our new houses - Koolboo and Kalbar. These will be a wonderful addition to our upcoming Sports Day (14th June). The P&C will be offering full tuckshop services on Sports Day and are seeking volunteers to work on a roster to allow our existing volunteers to watch their children compete on the day. If you are available to help for even 10 minutes, please reach out to Mr Spargo or myself.

Thanks, Latarah Heming - P&C President
