Interschool Cross Country

Yesterday, we held the Gin Gin Small Schools Cross Country event here at Kolan South State School. We welcomed competitors from Bullyard SS, McIllwraith SS, Maroondan SS, Wallaville SS, Sharon SS and Mount Perry SS. This was a great opportunity for some of our runners to race against other children that they wouldn't typically. Congratulations to Aria and Flynn as they have qualified for the Zone Cross Country competition to be held at Avoca State School on 17 May.

ANZAC Day - Lest we forget.

This afternoon we will be holding a special ANZAC service predominantly led by our school leaders. I see this as an incredibly important event for a number of reasons. Firstly, it educates our children about the sacrifices many service men and women have made and continue to make in order to ensure our country remains the wonderful free country that it is. Secondly, it helps the children develop a sense of respect and gratitude for the efforts of our service people. It also shows students how to conduct themselves at formal events and gives a forum for our leaders to perform official duties. Finally, it allows children, family members and staff who are unable to attend one of the services on ANZAC Day, an occasion at which to pay their respects.

All school leaders, drum corps members, school band members will represent Kolan South State School on Thursday morning. I also encourage as many other students (not mentioned previously) to represent our school by taking part in the march and service.

AEDC

Parents of Prep students please refer to the information emailed out with this newsletter regarding the Australian Early Development Census.

KSSS Positive Behaviour Plan

Students were reminded at assembly that our current Positive Behaviour Focus is 'Being kind to others'. It takes such very little effort to do, yet the benefits to be had by consciously doing so are plentiful.

Gymfinity is confirmed as our end-of-term reward activity for this term. I'd like to see all students make it to this very fun celebratory event. It's as simple as following our school rules and being at school everyday they can be. The target token amount is set at 42. Parents please have regular chats with your children to ensure they're tracking their progress.

P&C Update

Straight off the back of our Cross Country meal deal, our amazing P&C, along with wonderful parent volunteers, catered the Inter School Cross Country event. These events not only give you a break from lunch box prep, but the kids love it and we can fundraise money to purchase school resources.
We have a few more tuck shop days planned for this term, so please reach out if you are able to help.
Our Mother's Day stall is open for business next week. Students can purchase items from the stall at first break on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. It will reopen the following week.

Our next P&C meeting is Tuesday, 30th April 3:15pm. If you would like to hear more about how we can create fun, lasting memories for our kids, please come along.
