Principal's Message

Welcome 2019

Welcome back to everyone for the new school year, and a special welcome to new families.

Parents, please discuss any issues with your teachers so that we can assist in any way possible to ensure a positive start to the school year for your child / children.

 

2019 Classes

We commence 2019 with 4 classes, as listed below. Although unlikely, there could be changes to the composition of classes if there are further enrolments in the next couple of weeks.

 

Our classes are:

Prep / Year 1     Karen White  

Year 2/3/4         Helen Donald   

Year 3/4/5         Kelley Nathan-Webster / Sally Houghton

Year 5/6         Deane Drinnen / Jeff Searle

                     Sally Houghton / Caroline Bourke

 

Specialist Staff

Strings instrumental teacher Christine Buwalda will be here on Tuesdays, this year. LOTE (Japanese) with Susan Alexander for Year 4, 5 and 6 will be on Monday and Wednesdays. Music with Sharlene Peterson will again be on Wednesdays. PE teacher Nichole Russell will visit on Fridays, as usual.

 

Uniforms and Book Requirements

Thank-you to families for your efforts in outfitting students in uniform, and preparing booklist needs. Your efforts are appreciated. Please make contact if you need any advice or assistance in these areas.

Parents, please complete the Student Details Update form enclosed if you have any change to contact details, address, phone numbers, etc.

 

Swimming

This term, students in Year 1 and Year 2/3/4  will participate in the swimming program commencing in a few weeks. Cost this year will be $4 per week (for 6 weeks). Parents, please keep an eye out for information regarding swimming.

 

Toys and Valuables

Parents, please ensure students are not taking toys, sports gear or valuables to school. These items are best kept at home. As well, mobile phones, ipods and ipads should not be brought to school. If there are special circumstances, please contact the school. Thank-you.

 

Tuckshop

Tuckshop will commence in the near future. Starting date and menu will be communicated next week. There is a request form for volunteers included with today’s newsletter.

 

Parent/Teacher Communications

Parent/teacher meetings will be held towards the end of Term One. In the meantime, please feel free to communicate with your teachers at any time if you have concerns or queries regarding student progress.

Teachers will communicate regarding homework routines and other class information. Thank-you, teachers.

 

Student Absences

Please notify administration regarding student absences by either letter, email, phone call or Student Absence Note (included with today’s newsletter).

 

Weekly Assembly

Our weekly Assembly will be held most Thursdays at 9.00am in the library. Parents are very welcome to attend Assembly to be an audience for awards, class presentations and current achievements and information.

Our first Assembly will be this Thursday, 31 January.

 

Car Park Procedures and Safety

Parents, over the page is our usual summary of the main rules to do with parking, drop-off and pick-up in the car park and entrance area. Thank-you for assisting with and supporting car park procedures.

 

Thank-you to students, parents, and staff for back-to-school preparations. Please stay in touch regarding any concerns you may have. Looking forward to a positive start to school, this week. I hope it goes well for everyone.
