Cross Country

Our Cross Country yesterday was a great event. Events such as this provide another platform for children to test themselves and shine… and oh how some of them shone. Students 10 years and older with times close to zone qualification times have been invited to join a training squad for possible school representation at the Gin Gin Small Schools Cross Country event which we will be hosting here at Kolan South next Tuesday morning. For those students who reach qualifying times at this event, they will be off to Zone athletics trials at Avoca State School on May 17.

Congratulations to the following students who have made the training squad. The final team will be selected on Friday.

Behaviour Focus — Being kind to others

Students were reminded at assembly that our current Positive Behaviour Focus is 'Being kind to others'. It takes such very little effort to do, yet the benefits to be had by consciously doing it are so plentiful.

Adopt a Cop

On Monday we welcomed to the school our two 'Adopt-a-Cops', Sergeant Tim and Senior Constable Connor from the South Kolan Police Station. The officers introduced themselves, spoke a bit about what their job entails and then faced a barrage of  questions from the children, who were particularly interested in the tools they wore on their belts and vests. We look forward to seeing Tim and Connor regularly at the school as we aim to build a strong and positive connection between the school and the QPS.

KSSS Positive Behaviour Plan

Those students who reached the target amount of tokens last term certainly enjoyed the water fun afternoon we had in the last week of term. At assembly on Monday, we acknowledged those student who attained a token tally well above the target amount. Well done to these superstar students from Term 1 for setting such a great example to others.

P&C Update

Term 2 is off to a great start with our Cross Country tuckshop running smoothly yesterday. Thank you to those that support this service by purchasing meal deals. All funds raised go towards new school resources and subsiding student events - meaning parents pay less.

We have our Interschool Cross Country tuckshop next Tuesday from 9am - 12pm and are calling for any volunteers that can help for part or all of the time. The saying 'many hands makes light work' rings true in a P&C and we need your help to continue providing these extra services to students.

Please reach out if you are able to help out with tuckshop next week, or are interested in coming to our next P&C Meeting on 30th April to hear about the rest of our Term 2 events. New faces means new ideas - both of which we greatly welcome.
